Objectives of the meeting:

  • Introduce the Viral Hepatitis Prevention Board (VHPB), an organisation focussing for more than 22 years on the prevention and control of viral hepatitis: way of working, achievements and impact;
  • Hepatitis in Latin America:
    • Review the epidemiological situation on viral hepatitis in Latin America;
    • Discuss the progress achieved in hepatitis prevention in Latin American countries;
    • Discuss specific hepatitis issues in Latin America that need attention in the future;
  • Brazil: Review viral hepatitis in Brazil:
    • Give an overview of the current prevention and control measures on viral hepatitis and other hepatitis issues in Brazil;
    • Review the possible implementation of new prevention strategies, control measures and monitoring systems;
    • Discuss the successes, issues and barriers to overcome, and the way forward;
  • Discuss the possible input and impact of Viral Hepatitis Prevention Board to consolidate cooperation programmes to face viral hepatitis issues in Brazil and other Latin American countries.
