VHPB Letter to ACIP on the Importance of Timely Universal Hepatitis B Vaccination of Newborns published in Human Vaccines & Immunotherapeutics

In follow up of the initial post (read here: VHPB sends Letter to ACIP on the Importance of Timely Universal Hepatitis B Vaccination of Newborns – VHPB):

In early December 2025, ACIP voted 8–3 to remove the recommendation that all newborns in the United States receive the hepatitis B vaccine within 24 hours of birth and instead endorse individual (shared clinical) decision-making for infants born to mothers who test negative for hepatitis B, suggesting the first dose be given no earlier than 2 months of age (ACIP Recommends Individual-Based Decision-Making for Hepatitis B Vaccine for Infants Born to Women Who Test Negative for the Virus | CDC Newsroom).

The letter VHPB wrote to ACIP regarding the vote has now been published in Human Vaccines & Immunotherapeutics and can be found here.
